Intern of Exhibits and Education

Job Title: Intern of Exhibits and Education
Overview: The Intern of Exhibits and Education position aids in the management, plans and creation of educational programs and exhibits, and helps organize and host field trips. Additionally, Interns will work closely with all staff and other interns in research/development, evaluation/assessment, and implementation of education programs such as workshops, camps, exhibits and outreach events and more. Reports to the Director of Programs & Education. This is an unpaid internship position with a 5 hour minimum work week.

Operational hours are currently 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M Tues..-Sat.

Qualifications:  
  • Enrolled in a degree program; experience in the classroom setting preferred. 
  • Must maintain a high level of concentration for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work with attention to detail. 
  • Experience using MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and Google Drive.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Customer service and strong communication skills required.
  • Must tolerate a noisy environment for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities and objectives may include but are not limited to:
  • Working with school-aged children
  • Assisting with lesson plan implementation
  • Learning the importance and methods of informal education.
  • The experience the value of learning through play 
  • Practice implementing basic guidance and redirection methods
  • Assisting and leading educational programs
  • Helping maintain exhibits including cleaning and prepping
  • Collaborates with other interns and staff 
  • Creates and/or facilitates virtual resources 
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Enforces all rules and regulations promptly and professionally.
  • Attends all required training sessions and scheduled meetings.
